Aesthetics – The Home Hotel, Zurich

The Home Hotel was a visual feast. It recently opened in August, and is located in Sihilcity Nord which appears to be a newly gentrified and upcoming neighbourhood in Zurich. The hotel’s aesthetic philosophy was supposed to be from the dada art movement but we found it to give out a more psychedelic 70s vibe. We loved the garish wallpaper in the room, kitsch furniture and deco, and exagerrated corners and accents. We loved also all the extra stylish offerings it had, such as the lounge bar which had live music a few times a week and the ever so photogenic French restaurant Loulou’s. It was situated amidst cafes, shops and a shopping mall which had a supermarket and all that usual brands, and also a stone’s throw away from Sihlicity Nord tram, which makes it a really convenient place to base yourself for a few days if you want to just stay in the hotel and enjoy the place and neighbourhood or if you need to get to the Old Town or train station which can easily be done via tram. For us, it being part of the Marriot Bonvoy conglomerate put this hotel on our radar and we happily collected our points for a two night stay as we absorbed the vibe and look of such art and colour.
