September 2019 feels like a decade ago, and to be fair it is coming up to half a decade since the world experienced life before 2020 and all the baggage that came a long with it. Pula was beautifully hot we were in a high and adventurous spirit after days of dolphin safaris, sailboats and delectable seafood in Rovinj. Back in Rovinj we were told by a few British tourists that the Pula vibe was going to let us down after the civilised La Dolce Vita of Rovinj. ‘British youths looking to get legless’ was the general catchphrase. It wasn’t untrue. Streets smelt of pee and there were loud, beer smelling groups of youths speaking and singing obnoxiously way into the night and onto the streets. Still, for a bigger city vibe, there was still great architectural beauties that anchored the streets and facade of Pula (special mention of course to its renowned amphitheatre which is more intact and formidable than the colosseum in Rome) and it left a pleasing impression.

The ancient Romans left their mark just about everywhere.
