Aesthetics – Blue Lagoon, Paphos

Paphos, Cyprus is a 45 minute Ryanair flight from Amman, which makes it a convenient holiday destination if you are based here and want an extended weekend. We discovered about the Blue Lagoon when we arrived in Paphos last September, mainly through online googling for the finest beach in this part of the island. First, we drove to Latchi Harbour, which is a 40 minute drive from our hotel, the Atlantica Golden Beach hotel. From the harbour it was another 45 minutes boat ride to the Blue Lagoon. Along the way you will see some interesting sights like famous villas, hotels and architecture pointed out by the boat guide. Once we drew close to the Blue Lagoon where the boat would eventually dock, the clean azure colours of the water, so translucent that you could see right down to the white sandy floor of the sea was breathtaking. It was almost as perfect as Dhalu Atoll of Maldives (still the only beach and island we never fully got over). We jumped in and swam and floated for the hour that sped past too quickly. Months later, the visual and sensory memories still remain so alive and ethereal in our reservoir of life’s favourite experiences.
