Aesthetics – Zagreb Facade

Ahh.. it’s time for another post on facades, this time featuring Zagreb. I wasn’t sure what to expect architecturally in the capital of Croatia. We could feel immediately upon entering into the streets that there was a warmth in the energy of the people, different to our Budapest experience. Yet the buildings and structures still maintained that regal austerity – it certainly looked nothing like Rovinj or Pula. Further reading later indicates that Zagreb is a fusion of Europe’s west and east, and in Rovinj we were told that Zagreb was more markedly Austro Hungarian than it was Venetian.

In any case, what follows are the frames that piqued my interest. Grand, broken and romantic.
