Aesthetics – Prague Facade

Architectural Fantasy

For a facade lover like myself, Prague was a place where my camera ran out of batteries fast. As I understand it, the city’s architecture is a melange of Baroque, Gothic, Renaissance, Art Nouveau etc. We arrived at night but could already get a sense of how there was an intriguing majesty about her aesthetics and when the light washed over our apartment in the morning, it all made sense. Enjoy these beauties…

Final Words

So far, the doors and windows of Prague have been the most breathtaking to see in my travels. It shouts out at you and demands you to ogle. Almost every property you come across are statement pieces, a haute couture of architecture. It’s also really mind blowing to imagine that 1000 years ago, civilisation here was so refined that the desire to design, build and manifest such beautiful works of art in their homes and institutions existed at this level. It’s not a style maybe that I feel is my personal favourite but definitely one whose majesty can only be admired.
