Aesthetics – Peranakan Tiles

These were hung in a corridor of the Eastern Oriental hotel in Georgetown, Penang. Penang island is one of those must-see places of Malaysia. I would love to write more about it as it’s one of those cities that has a lot to offer in terms of history, architecture, cultural aesthetics, beach relaxation not to mention food, and will aim to do that before the end of the year (as it can be quite a long post given the many tips we picked up from our lovely Penang friend who took us to all his favourite haunts and the gazillion photos I snapped and still haven’t sat down to curate). For now… enjoy these beautiful tiles. I love this melange of colours and patterns and would love to have it as accents at home but haven’t managed to figure out how it can weave in between the main bones of the interiors.
